What About Her?
A True Story of Clergy Abuse Survival
written under Jan Tuin's pseudonym,
Beth Van Dyke
When Jan wrote her story, her primary audience was to victims and survivors so that they would know they are not alone. Her story depicts the stages through which they pass on their road to find healing. It portrays the obstacles they face on that road, but it provides encouragement and hope that they can once again walk in wholeness.
She wrote to churches, so that they would openly deal with the issue of clergy sexual abuse. Her story tells of how the church reneged on their responsibility to deal with the abuse, locally and on the district level. It is a plea for church to do it correctly by listening to the victim, swiftly removing the offender from the local church, and then helping her and her family find resources for healing.
This book is also a benefit to anyone who cares to know the truth of clergy sexual abuse, whether it be family loved ones or members of congregations who earnestly week to understand the dynamics of this great tragedy that is sweeping places of worship.

"We all have observed what happens when a pastor falls into sexual sin: leaders gather around to form an accountability group; the erring leader is assigned the task of pursuing various restoration tasks for a year or so; and then the pastor is reinstalled into places of service and leadership. But Beth and her book are asking us the haunting question, What About Her?"
